Those in the Northeast can breathe in a sigh of relief as Storm Henri seems to be moving out into the Atlantic, but bad weather is still on the radar. Here are some tips from the Shepard Insurance Group on what you can do to ensure your safety:
Invest in a portable charger or make sure your electronics are charged in case of power outages. Using technology to anticipate, track, and respond to events, can help us ensure quality service to you.
Keeping gutters clear, trimming trees, putting away outside furniture, and securing windows will help prevent items from falling on the house or blowing away from wind.
Make sure your generator works and you have enough gas (if needed) to last the storm.
Gas up and move your car to higher ground, in a garage, or the side of the house. Do not park under power lines, trees, or poles to protect against flying items from wind and potential flooding.
Keep enough emergency supplies such as bottled water, nonperishable food, flashlights, cash, and toiletries to sustain you and your family for at least 3 days.
