Lighting Bolt

Lightning Strike Prevention

Avoiding Insurance Claims

The dangerous climate-driven storms and the massive deluge of rain are creating a new version of water damage to homes. But equally concerning is the growing potential for a lightning strike, which many times comes with these intense storms.

“more than $100,000 in damage to the electronics in the home”

While it is suggested that a lightning strike is only a 1 in 200 event, in a recent storm, we had two clients have lightning hit their home, one resulting in more than $100,000 in damage to the electronics in the home. It might be sensible to investigate installing a lightning rod and/or surge arrestor to avoid the inconvenience of a direct hit. Redirecting the electrical surge to avoid an insurance claim can come at a modest cost and can save the aggravation of damage to all your electrical components.

Controlling damage(s) from these devastating storms is a simple step to controlling your long-term insurance costs.
