If you are one of the people affected by Hurricane Ida in Connecticut, then you may be in luck. Governor Ned Lamont’s Major Disaster Declaration for Connecticut was approved by President Biden on October 30, 2021 which will give relief to those affected by the storm’s damage.

“While FEMA will not cover anything already covered by insurance, it may be able to help where your insurance provider is unable to.”

FEMA Provided Housing Assistance

The declaration will provide aid to Fairfield and New London Counties for expenses that are not generally covered by insurance policies. Aid provided by FEMA include:

  1. Temporary housing
  2. Emergency home repairs
  3. Personal property
  4. Medical, dental, funeral expenses

If you would like to file a claim with FEMA, the first step would be to call and see if you are eligible. While FEMA will not cover anything already covered by insurance, it may be able to help where your insurance provider is unable to.
