Remote Auto Ignition is Assisting Thieves!

It has been a couple of times in recent weeks that I have searched the house to find my car keys, only to determine that I left them in the car. If my car was in the garage, it’s not a large problem, but left unattended in the driveway, it might have disappeared.

It is convenient, not having to put your car key in the ignition to start your car, but when you arrive at your destination, instead of removing your key from the ignition, you push a button to turn off the car.

But where are your keys?

But where are your keys?

Hopefully in your pocket or purse, because if they are inadvertently left in the car, that is now, unfortunately, a problem.

Thieves are wandering neighborhoods looking for those cars of individuals who have missed the vital step of removing the keys from the car. An unintended consequence.

If your car does not end up in the garage, start your car with your keys or a purse to eliminate the added step of grabbing the keys when you turn off the car.

With devastating convective storms, driving flood claims on autos and pushing up premium rates, having a car disappear is just another surcharge.
