Long Term Premium Stability Against Weather Disasters

It is very clear that insurance companies providing home insurance are struggling with issuing new home insurance policies with weather disasters occurring nationwide. Options for affordable home insurance over the next 5 years are becoming more limited with each weather event.

“We believe insuring with a large company that has business in all 50 states is the best choice for stable long-term rates.”

Size Matters When Selecting Home Insurance

At Shepard Insurance, we believe Size Matters, here is why.

Home insurance companies come in different shapes and sizes. We believe insuring with a large company that has business in all 50 states is the best choice for stable long-term rates.

There are:

Regional Insurer’s that insure homes in a specific geographic region like the Northeast, or worse just Florida. You may find availability but a weather disaster in that region will put that insurance company and its insureds at risk to the company taking large rate increases or possibly going bankrupt.

Small National Insurance Companies – with more spread of risk these insurers have identified geographic regions across the USA that they hand select to do business purely on their expectations that they are not as exposed to weather. As we know, weather disasters have been unpredictable and if a storm hits one of their regions at a minimum you can expect a large rate increase.

Large National Insurers – with size and spread options across all 50 or maybe 48 states, this choice represents, in our opinion, the best long-term option to control your insurance premium costs.
