Should you add Cyber Insurance?

A while back I had a good laugh when a friend told me that their 9-year-old son had used his Mom’s phone to order an iWatch. It was discovered on delivery, and promptly returned when it arrived.

But it did get me thinking about how exposed we are to internet crimes which range from phishing to ransomware. All intended with getting access to your assets.

Should you implement Cyber Insurance? Let’s do an audit.

  • Passwords? How secure are your passwords? Do you use the same password a lot, or the same, with some minor variation that would be easy to figure out? Read our previous blog post about password managers.
  • Responding? Do you respond to emails and phone calls from addresses and numbers you do not recognize?
  • Attachments to emails? Would you open an attachment from an unexpected email, or return the email for clarification?
  • Children – Do you have young children who know your password and at times use your phone to occupy time?

Internet thieves are enormously creative in their effort to invade your world to get access to your finances. Even the most diligent users of email/smart phone/ text and telephone are being tripped up.
